Access settings
Password
Users must provide a password to log on to the file server. You set passwords and the type of access each user has in the Users & Groups module.
Allow users to save password for automatic logon:
Turning on this option allows users to access the file server easily. If you select this, the "Save My Name and Password" option is available to users when they log on to the server.
Restrict users to single active logon per account:
It's best to select this option to ensure greater security, or to prevent users from "borrowing" each other's accounts.
Connections
Maximum client connections (including guests):
The maximum number of connections is limited to the number of licenses you own. If you are using your server to provide a number of services, you can improve performance by setting the maximum connections to a value lower than the number of licenses.
Maximum guest connections (including anonymous FTP):
Guest access allows people who are not registered users to use some services, such as FTP and file sharing. This is a convenient way to provide occasional users with access to files and other items for which the appropriate privileges have been set.
The number of connections is independent of the various guest access settings.
